The Radio Production Awards 2014

Fly back to last week, Tuesday 25th November, at the Hippodrome, London, where several members of 7digital attended the Radio Production Awards 2014, hosted by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne.

These awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Radio and Audio Producers. We want to shout out from the 7d rooftops how proud we are that 5 of the award nominees come from our own radio companies!

Kellie While, from the talented Smooth Operations team, ended the night on a high, as she scooped up the award Best Live Music Producer/Engineer’ for the ‘2014 Radio 2 Folk Awards’. The judges described her grand efforts as:

"This was a beautifully produced entry about a remarkable musical event.

The judges were hooked throughout. Kellie’s audio successfully captured the sense of occasion, the ambiance of the Royal Albert Hall and some splendid musical pieces."

Ian Callaghan was nominated in the Best Music Entertainment Producer category for The People’s Songs (Radio 2), the landmark 50 part Stuart Maconie series, and Jon Lewis is nominated in the same category for his Production of the weekly Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe (Radio 2).

The Best Newcomer award is given for a sustained contribution to a Production, Production company, or for a remarkable debut as a Producer or Engineer. It’s fantastic to see two of our rising stars, Matt Willis and Tom Pooley receiving some well-earned recognition as they were both nominees in this category.

Truly well done all! It’s been a great year - here’s to another one!
