Brian Matthew celebrates 25 years as the host of BBC Radio 2's Sounds of the Sixties
Brian Matthew celebrates his 25th Anniversary presenting Sounds of the Sixties, after stepping into Keith Fordyce’s shoes back in March, 1990. As one of Radio 2’s longest serving and most loved radio personalities, Brian has entertained his loyal army of ‘avids’ with his expert knowledge and bank of remarkable anecdotes from every corner of the world of Sixties show business that he was very much at the heart of.
Brian will be playing a selection of his favourite tracks from the era, and expect some star studded well wishes from big Sixties names that have come forward to help him mark this special occasion. This special show will be broadcast on Saturday 28th March on BBC Radio 2 at 8am.
Brian Matthew says: "The last 25 years presenting Sounds of the Sixties really have gone like a flash and it has been an absolute pleasure hosting the show. It’s wonderful to see that sixties music has stood the test of time and is still as relevant today as it was back then. My brilliant producer, dubbed Phil “the collector” Swern, has the biggest record collection of material from the 1960’s I have ever encountered. We have played some hits and discovered some rarities over the years, and we’re thrilled that our audience of AVIDs continue to enjoy the show."
