Cookies policy.

Effective as of June 9 2014.

Here at 7digital, we are committed to providing an excellent user experience, and to protecting and respecting your privacy while we do so. This policy sets out the cookies that we use and our general Privacy Policy details how we use your personal data, therefore please read both policies.  By visiting our website and using our services, you agree to be bound by these policies and our general Terms and Conditions Policy.

1.     What are cookies?

2.     What cookies do we use?

3.     Third party cookies used on our website

1.  What are cookies?

A cookie is a small file, typically of letters and numbers, that a website sends to your browser that is then stored on your system. Cookies are used because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device. Information collected in this way can be used to identify you, unless you change your browser settings as set out below.

2. What cookies do we use?

We use cookies as part of our normal business to enhance user experience and to track patterns of user behaviour on our website.  In this section we describe the types of cookies that we use; please note that third parties may also set cookies via our website as set out the section below, over which we have no control.

Cookies placed and used by 7digital fall into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website, use a shopping cart or make use of e-billing services;

  • Performance cookies allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily. It also enables us to estimate our audience size and usage pattern. These cookies may also provide feedback on your interaction with our newsletters, if you have signed up for them.

  • Functionality cookies are used to recognise you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalise our content for you and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region) and in general to allow us to customise our site and to provide you with offers that are targeted at your individual interests. It also allows you to use our site in a way that makes your browsing experience more convenient, for example, by allowing you to store items in an electronic shopping basket between visits. If you register with us or complete our online forms, we will use cookies to remember your details during your current visit, and any future visits provided the cookie was not deleted in the interim.

  • Targeting cookies. These cookies record your visit to our website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make our website more relevant to your interests. We may also share this information with third parties for this purpose.

3.  Third party cookies used on our website

Third parties such as advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services may also place cookies, via our website. These cookies are likely to be analytical, performance cookies or targeting cookies, including:

  • Analytical and Performance cookies which in general allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors, and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. Third party cookies may help us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily. 7digital sometimes uses third party service providers to help track the activity and user flows within our service. These third parties may use temporary cookies and/or web beaconing technology to facilitate tracking individual user’s movements; and

  • Google analytics cookies, which in particular are used as 7digital contracts with Google as a third party vendor. These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works.

4.  Adjusting your settings, and more information

Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.
