Meet the Team
Tell us what you do at 7digital
I am a software developer on the Core Platform team, continually trying to make the code that moves the bytes around leaner and more efficient.
Tell us a little about what you did before you started working at 7digital and what you like to do in your spare time
I worked as a developer in investment banking for years. In my spare time I run marathons and play the bassoon, although not at the same time.
What aspect of your job do you enjoy the most?
Taking working code and making it easier to read and cheaper to run. As software developers we are constantly learning, and trying to get my head around cloud services like Amazon's Lambda functions or Alexa is fascinating.
What does a typical day at work look like for you?
We start and end the day with quick stand up meetings to set our course. In between I try to avoid meetings and look at much code as I can!
What was the first concert you went to?
The Black Crowes, National Stadium Dublin, 1991.
What was the last great concert you went to?
The Marriage of Figaro at the Royal Opera House, 2015.
Favourite album or song of all time?
As an album, I have always loved Graceland by Paul Simon, it's almost perfect. If we are talking about all time favourite - Bach's B-minor Mass would be my 'desert island disc'.
Best technology innovation of the past five years?
The growth of cloud services has been extraordinary - things that used to take months and millions of pounds can now be created almost instantly.
